Supplied With Adhesive Designed To Affix Directly To Your Existing Back-Plate
Did the original mirror glass fall away from the back-plate? This Is A VERY Common Issue!
Our Hand-Cut And Hand Finished Mirror Glass Is Designed To Be Affixed To The EXISTING Back-Plate.
Our Mirror Is NOT Chamfered, Instead We Use Silver 3mm Flat Mirror Glass Which Comes Supplied With Our Outstanding Full Size Adhesive Backing.
After Being Approached By Multiple 86 Owners For A More Cost Effective Replacement, We Produced This Replacement Mirror Glass. Our Flat Mirror Glass Is Lighter In Weight Putting Far Less Stress On The Adhesive Layer.
The "Dip" Function Will Not Work As It Did Due To The Mirror Being Produced Flat, This Means The High Beam Anti Dazzle Feature Will Not Work As Before.
Fitting Advice
Firstly The reason for the failure is due to the painted layer on the back side of the mirror glass de-laminating, the grey/black flaking material is what’s left of the painted surface from the glass.
The new mirror is designed to be affixed to the existing back plate using the supplied full-size adhesive backing.
You MUST remove the flaking paint (Do not sand!) our adhesive works best on smooth surfaces, once free of flaking material thoroughly clean the back-plate using methylated spirits, DO NOT remove the previous adhesive, only the flaking paint where flaking. Once clean pre-warm the adhesive on the back of the new glass with a hairdryer, it will also be of use to pre-warm the back-plate also, if possible.
Once warmed you are ready to apply, our adhesive is a contact adhesive meaning once it touches the plate it will lock, take your time, centrally align the mirror to the profile of the back plate and gently press into place, great force is not required, once affixed gently squeeze the mirror all the way around to ensure a good bond.
